Curated Closet Consignment Process & What to Expect
Thank you so much for trusting me to consign and resell your items! I wanted to share a few details about how the process works, please let me know if you have any questions. This email includes quite a bit of information, but I wanted to make sure everything was clearly outlined.
Poshmark is the primary platform I use to sell items. It’s an online app that connects buyers and sellers from across the country for buying and selling clothing, accessories, and more. The length of time it takes for an item to sell can vary. Trendy, mid-range to designer items tend to sell more quickly, but many other brands do sell as well — they just may take more time.
The first step in the process is inventorying your items. I will let you know how many items I list and if there are any I don’t think will sell. I can return these items to you or donate them on your behalf.
Once an item sells, I will package and ship it to the buyer. After the item is delivered, the buyer has up to three days to accept and review it. Once they do, the funds are released to my account. If the buyer does not accept or review within three days, the funds are released automatically. It typically takes up to three days for the funds to transfer from Poshmark to my bank.
Proceeds are split 50/50. I will send your portion monthly via Venmo or PayPal (I prefer Venmo, but let me know what works best for you).
Poshmark does take a fee for all sales. For items under $15, they take a flat fee of $2.95. For items over $15, they take 20% of the sale price. Profits are split after Poshmark’s fee is deducted.
I will do my best to keep you updated on what’s selling, but depending on how busy things get, that may not always be as frequent. You’re always welcome to reach out if you’re curious or want an update.
Vacation note: From time to time, my seller accounts may be temporarily put on “vacation mode” if I’m away. These platforms expect very quick shipping (which I pride myself on), so I prefer to pause listings rather than leave them active if I can’t ship within 1–2 days. This just ensures buyers always have a great experience.
For consignment, I ask to keep items for at least six months (longer if you’re comfortable with that). After that, we can reevaluate. In-season items tend to sell better, but I do list most items because you never know who’s looking for exactly what! At any time, if you’d like your items back or you’re not happy with how things are going, please let me know so we can talk it through.
One final note: I also cross-list items on other selling platforms to increase exposure and hopefully speed up sales. These platforms work very similarly to Poshmark, with fees and funds being released after buyer acceptance. Occasionally, I’ll list certain items on Facebook Marketplace as well, especially local or seasonal items (like kids’ or sports-related pieces).
Thank you again — I’m so excited to sell your items for you!
